Abby Weisman
LCSW #106101
Originally from the east coast, I did a road trip to San Diego in 2011, and have lived there ever since. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master of Social Work in 2017, and have spent the last decade working in various therapeutic settings with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
I believe that trauma isn’t what has happened to us, but rather our relationship with those events. I utilize EMDR and other evidence-based, trauma-focused interventions to reprocess the past and allow us to view it differently. My goal is to help you make sense of your experiences with compassion rather than judgment.
I prioritize trust and respect with everyone I work with. I am proudly allied with, and support the empowerment of, historically marginalized communities. I value creating a safe space in which you can show up authentically and feel as if you've accomplished something.
I use humor where appropriate (therapy doesn't have to always be heavy!). And I am direct. I won't just nod along passively to everything you say, but rather I will challenge and empower you to make real change - because I believe it’s possible.
Outside of work, I enjoy long walks with my pup, pouring into my friendships, being by the water, trying new restaurants, and traveling to far away places. I aim to create a life worth living and hope to help you to do the same.
