Abby Weisman

LCSW #106101

Originally from the east coast, I drove out to San Diego California in 2011, and have lived there ever since. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master of Social Work in 2017, and have worked in various therapeutic settings with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.

I believe that trauma isn’t what has happened to us, but rather our relationship with it. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and other evidence-based, trauma-focused interventions to reprocess the past and allow us to view it differently. By examining, and when necessary reframing, the core beliefs that shape us, we can change how we feel about ourselves and in turn, about our lives, our relationships, and our future.

I prioritize trust and respect with everyone I work with. I am proudly allied with and support the empowerment of historically marginalized communities. I value creating a safe space in which you can show up authentically and feel as if you've accomplished something.

I use humor where appropriate (therapy doesn't have to always be heavy!). And I am direct. I won't just nod along passively to everything you say, but rather I will challenge and empower you to make real change.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with my sweet goofy pup, pouring into my friendships, being by the coast, going out to eat, watching the latest reality tv, and traveling to far away places. I aim to create a life worth living and hope to help you to do the same.
